BELL TOWER CULTURAL CENTER Building
The Bell Tower Cultural Center is housed in a historic church building located at 201 E Second Street, in Florence CO. The First Baptist Church of Florence sanctuary portion of the building was built at this location in 1893. A basement was added in 1927 to provide kitchen facilities and gathering space. In 1939, a bell, donated by a church in Pagosa Springs, was added to the bell tower. Continued growth resulted in the Annex being built onto the south corner, housing three floors of offices, education rooms and gathering spaces in 1956, Unfortunately the early 2000’s brought dwindling congregation membership making it difficult to maintain the building. The building was given to the Florence Arts Council by members of the church to be used as a center for learning for the community in 2013. Extensive fundraising has funded a new roof, and furnace along with planned brick and interior restoration.
